Eat your heart out, HGTV! SUNY Oneonta put out a call via Instagram last week for pictures of creative freshman residence hall rooms, and students came through! After narrowing the group to six finalists, our Insta followers voted childhood education major Brie Springer's cozy Dormify-inspired room No. 1:
Childhood education major Kendall Reed's room was a close second:
"My inspo was definitely Target...I live in Target!"
Over the summer, roommates Brittany Champagne and Giulia D’Angelo decided on color schemes, brainstormed decoration ideas and coordinated who was bringing what for their room:
“We’ve been talking about it every day for months!” says Giulia, a childhood education major.
Gabby Cecere, a psychology major, says she wanted her room to be "bright and have a home-y kind of feel... Pinterest definitely helped!"
"I just wanted something clean and simple that wouldn't make the room feel too cluttered ... I really wanted some cute inspirational messages to help me along my journey and pictures to remind me of home!" - Kayla Capucilli, childhood education major
Students used neon, rope lights and twinkle lights to add a dreamy vibe to their rooms.
Freshmen got creative hanging pictures of family and friends.
The ~perfect~ place to take a nap in between classes.
Can't forget a fluffy friend or two to snuggle with! Red, the college's mascot, was a popular option.
Whether you end up living together just this semester or all four years of college, you'll always remember your first roommate.
