SUNY Oneonta gained 1,400 new Red Dragons on Wednesday, Aug. 23, when the freshman class (and their families and belongings) came to campus for Move-In Day 2017. Another 400 new transfer students moved in Friday, Aug. 25.
More than 400 staff and student volunteers were on hand to welcome new students and their families, direct traffic, give directions and help move students' belongings to their rooms.

The Class of 2021 gathered at the top of the quad for a group photo the night before the first day of classes.
Freshmen officially joined the Oneonta family at the traditional Pass Through the Pillars event the night before the start of the semester. New students walked between the pillars of Old Main, the college’s first building, to the beat of the Drag’n Rolls Drumline. Faculty, staff and students gathered to clap, cheer and high-five the new students as they made their way down to the quad.
