This semester presented me with the chance to capture moments through my lens for SUNY Oneonta. I had the privilege of photographing 27 events across different locations and themes. These events allowed me to expand my knowledge of photography and absorb valuable insights and life skills. I had the chance to collaborate with many members in the Department of Communications and around campus, which provided me with hands-on experience in a collaborative workspace. This internship rewarded me with a valuable opportunity which I am extremely appreciative of. Here are the events I captured throughout my time as SUNY Oneonta's photography intern:
The annual Fall concert, this year featuring The Driver Era with Lisa Heller and Luke Mock.
The 2023 academic year was kicked off with the annual fall festival at college camp. Students of SUNY Oneonta came together to have fun playing various games and activities.
The 2023 fall Club Expo took place in Alumni Field House and featured more than 150 tables. Students learned more about the clubs offered on campus and how to join.
SUNY Oneonta held a tabling at the local farmers' market with educational resources for the community. Students were able to sign out bikes through Outdoor Programs and ride down to the farmers' market where they got coupons for free food
Freshman students volunteered to do a community cleanup around the City of Oneonta.
The annual parade of students holding up flags from their nations around the world marched through the center of campus to represent where they're from.
This fiesta was a celebration held directly after the Parade of Nations. Some important figures in the community such as the president of SUNY Oneonta, Dr. Cardelle, spoke to students.
Dr. Nazario y Colón, poet, Senior Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer, gave a keynote and public reading of his poetry collection The Moor of the Bronx and hosted a poetry workshop for the campus community.
Sodexo and SUNY Oneonta put on a one mile and 5K race to raise funds to support the Riverside Elementary School Backpack Program.
The local restaurant Wise Guys Sammys catered the Mills dining hall MyKitchen with a popular chicken sandwich!
A celebration of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives spanning across Oneonta's two campuses: SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College, as well as the broader city.
Bill Crombie, director of professional development for The Algebra Project, presented a workshop for educators and parents explaining The Algebra Project’s multi-pronged strategy to raise the floor of math literacy.
The artist – acclaimed poet, singer, composer and author Lisa Marie Simmons performed an opening for her month-long Artist-in-Residence program in the Martin-Mullen Gallery.
The 10-year anniversary of this conference was a collaborative effort that improves environments, systems, and policies for LGBTQIA+ folks.
'Start from ZERO' is a sweeping exhibition filling both the Martin-Mullen and Project Space galleries with an expansive overview of Yolanda Sharpe's contemporary practice.
This event was an interactive, hands-on workshop that introduced the general audience to Professor Yolanda Sealey-Ruiz's framework of the Archeology of Self, which she describes as a framework that encourages digging deep, peeling back their layers, and exploring how issues of race, class, religion, gender, sexual orientation live within them.
In collaboration with the social justice committee, University Police put on an event for students to learn new life skills, opportunities and more in the quad.
In part of First-Gen Celebration Week, this event allowed students to paint, plant and mingle with President Cardelle.
The student Activities Council held a talent show at Goodrich Theatre, featuring EEMS.

This event was held to Spotlight the research and scholarly/creative activity, teaching, service and varied integrated contributions made by faculty to the intellectual life of the campus community and beyond.
The annual Christmas parade held on Main St. Featuring Suny OnMark and president Dr. Cardelle.
The AJ Read Science Discovery Center hosted a live podcast recording of “Sing for Science” on the SUNY Oneonta Campus with host Matt Whyte, musician Jeremy Wall (Co – Founder of the group Spyro Gyra) and scientist Holly Waterfield.
